What’s the difference between Gel and Shellac…do you know ? Well there isn’t much of a difference between Gel and Shellac except the price.
Gel polish in my opinion is better and gives a great shine. Shellac does the same but is slightly thicker. Now let’s stay on the subject of Gel Polish for a minute. So, the main difference between Gel Polish and Shellac polish is the formula.
“I bet you didn’t know that”… Gelish is a gel form of polish whereas Shellac is actually a form of permanent nail polish.
A gel polish is liquid gel which is cured under a UV lamp. Either way, you still need to stick your nails under the lamp for both the gel and shellac.
Gel Polish actually holds up better as far as not cracking, or chipping. Now on a scale of 1-10, choosing Gel over Shellac, I would choose Gel Polish. Below are 2 of my favorite Gel Polishes…
Now, while I am team Gel, and love all the great things that it does, I also like Shellac, as the hold/grip keeps better than Gel. Shellac’s tight grip on your nails, will keep as long as Gel Polish does and most times longer depending on your upkeep of nails and other minor circumstances.
Its also always best to make sure you are washing your hands, but also drying them immediately, to avoid any nail softening or any nail fungus.
If you upkeep your nails, trimming them slightly, filing them a little and not really messing with the cuticles, you can keep them looking beautiful !
Even though you aren’t messing with your cuticles, its always best to use cuticle oil on them and your nails. Below is another nail cuticle oil that is my favorite.
